  Onslow-Cole: Race one hindered me - 4th June 2008

After the double win at Thruxton which threw him right into contention for the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship title, Tom Onslow-Cole endured a trying weekend as the series moved to Croft for the fourth round of the year.

The second year driver qualified in sixth place on the grid but was one of the drivers to lose out during the restarted opening race of the weekend, held in torrential wet conditions. Having climbed to fifth place on the first start, the Vauxhall man was one of three people to slide off in the rain at Tower on the opening lap of the restart and although he managed to rejoin, he could only finish down in 19th place.

Although able to make up places in race two, Onslow-Cole could only finish one place outside the points in eleventh, but he managed to secure his only points finish of the weekend in race three – eventually taking seventh place after losing a position to Gordon Shedden on the
final lap.

"The result from race one really hindered us from getting better results in the next two races," he said. "Once the race was re-started, there was just too much water on the track and I
went wide.

"I started from 19th in race two and it was so difficult to make up places from so far back, especially when you have ten or so really good drivers ahead of you.

"Still we managed to fight back in the last race and scored some points, so it was a good finish to a bad day."
