| A memorial service for the late David Leslie is to be held at Silverstone circuit on Thursday 24 July to give fans of the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship the chance to remember the former Nissan driver.
Leslie, who finished second in the standings back in 1999 while with the RML-run team, was one of five people to die in a plane crash on 30 March in Kent – the same day that the 2008 BTCC campaign was getting underway at the nearby Brands Hatch circuit.
Former Audi team boss Richard Lloyd and mechanic Chris Allarton also lost their lives, along with the two pilots of the aircraft.
Leslie will now be remembered by fans and colleagues alike at the memorial event, which will be held at the British Racing Drivers' Club's Farm and start at 6pm.
There will be a hog roast with a small charge, all proceeds from which will go to the Oxford Kidney Unit Trust Fund at Churchill Hospital in Oxford.
Fans who plan to attend are asked to e-mail davidlesliememorial@hotmail.co.uk to give organisers an idea of numbers for catering.
