Gordon Shedden will return to the grid for the season’s final two rounds in a bio-fuelled SEAT Leon entered under the Club SEAT banner.
Scottish ace Shedden will race the same Leon (running on E85 bio-ethanol fuel) which he competed in at Snetterton and Knockhill for the Clyde Valley Racing team which has since withdrawn from the series.
It marks a third attempt by proven race-winner Shedden to make an impression on the 2009 season. He parted company with former squad Team Dynamics after only the opening round and then had to wait until the start of the season’s second half before his brief return
with CVR.
But Cartridge World, the market leading retailer of refilled and remanufactured printer cartridges which backed the original CVR effort, has confirmed it is helping to support Shedden’s entry and its yellow livery will remain visible on his car.
Having missed the most recent round at Silverstone, Shedden told btcc.net: “Hopefully it’s third time lucky! It would have been easy to say ‘sod this’ and just write off the season. But I’ve had a lot of support from a lot of people to get back on the grid, plus I’m fiercely determined to succeed. In any case I’ve always had to fight tooth and nail to be on the grid so this time is no different.
“I had a good run at Knockhill in the SEAT and know what it’s capable of and, looking at past results, it’s a car that has shown really strongly at Rockingham. We’re probably going to be the smallest team on the grid with only five people or so but I don’t think that will mean we’re the slowest by any stretch of the imagination!”
Mark Holland, UK General Manager of Cartridge World, said: “We are excited to be returning for the last two weekends of the season. Gordon will race a striking yellow Cartridge World SEAT Leon. We hope he will perform as well as he did at Knockhill. It would be fantastic to be celebrating more podiums.
“Gordon has already demonstrated that the greener alternative of bio-ethanol can match the performance of the traditional choice. The team emphasises the value that we, as a company, put on being able to offer a quality, environmentally-friendly alternative.
“Cartridge World has been committed to the BTCC from the start. Our brand ethos is quality and performance and with Gordon we are confident that as Cartridge World refuels printer cartridges so they keep on performing, so Cartridge World’s car is refuelled and ready to race again.”
