Motorbase Performance has confirmed it will once again run under the Airwaves BMW team banner in 2010’s Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
It will be the second year in a row that David Bartrum’s BTCC team has secured title sponsorship from the hugely popular Wrigley’s chewing gum brand.
Furthermore, Leyland Paints will also continue to co-sponsor the Wrotham-based squad which has still to announce its 2010 driver line-up.
Bartrum said: “When we introduced Wrigley’s Airwaves to the BTCC last year we were ecstatic to have secured such a hugely recognisable brand as our title sponsor.
“People see Airwaves as the chewing gum that helps you ‘Kick up a gear’ and this association, as well as the brand’s support, is of massive benefit to us. It’s great news for the championship that brands like Airwaves and Leyland Paints feel it is the place to be!”
While tight-lipped about his driver line-up, Bartrum added: “Our original plan was to run a BTCC newcomer alongside an experienced driver, in the same way that we brought Steven Kane and Jonathan Adam to touring cars over the past couple of years. I’m not sure it will quite work out like that now… as things stand today, we might even go one better.”
In addition to its BTCC programme, Motorbase will also field six cars in the supporting Porsche Carrera Cup GB series.
